Yuki Tsukumo Appearance Explained
For starters, there is how Yuki Tsukumo looks. She has appeared in a single blink, and you miss it sort of scene in the anime, but that is about it.
With it, though, we can see some slight differences from how she looked in the manga. In the manga and anime, Yuki wears a relatively standard outfit. She has either a tank top that is sleeveless and some jeans or a full-on leather suit with a tight jacket. Either way, her hair is long and flowing, going all the way down her back.
She likes to wear some goggles on her forehead, which may be there simply for show or to help her out somehow in fights. She has a slightly attractive appearance but one that isn’t noticeably good-looking, giving that realistic and grounded appearance that Jujutsu Kaisen is known for.
The main difference between her anime and manga appearances is that she was likely designed to have gray hair of some kind in the manga. However, in the short scene, we see in the anime, this has been changed to blonde hair, at least in that particular sunset lighting.

To be clear, if I haven’t already, Yuki Tsukumo is a character you won’t see often in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and the anime adaptation whenever that comes out. She just isn’t the type of character that is part of the core cast. However, the few times she shows up, it is typically a massive moment.
We’re talking about those moments you see in anime where the main characters are struggling so much and are in need of some serious help. Yuki is so strong that she can be that type of character who will appear out of nowhere and help everyone.

Saving the Day in Shibuya
We briefly hear about Yuki Tsukumo earlier in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. What is made known about her is that she is one of four special cursed spirit sorcerers in the nation of Japan. This makes her one of the top four fighters on the side of the humans.
However, she doesn’t make her proper appearance known until the Shibuya Incident. Near the end of the devastating event, she appears to save the day. This is for a couple of reasons, the first being to save Yuji and the other main characters from the evil Geto and his unstoppable powers.
The other reason is Geto, her old friend. She grew up with Gojo and Geto, and the trio was tight-knit as can be. However, they mainly went their separate ways in adulthood, which led to Geto’s change of heart to the evil side.
Yuki is able to single-handedly take on some of the villains in the Shibuya Incident and save the others from their likely horrible fates. Her powers aren’t even fully shown off during this sequence, either. In the end, she gets to know Yuji a little bit and shares some about her life.
She notes that she isn’t tied to the Tokyo Jujutsu High School and the organization that runs everything in Japan. Instead, she is a lone wolf who does whatever she wants.
She even seems like she could be a solid mentor for characters like Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara, but she leaves as soon as she gets there to save the day.
Her Part in the Culling Game
That said, Yuki Tsukumo most recently came back in the manga series in some of the most recent chapters. This is why you should be caught up on the manga if you don’t want to know what happens with her. As you likely know about The Culling Game, this event involves nearly all of the sorcerers in Japan.
This even includes someone like Yuki, even though she is primarily unaffiliated with the other sorcerers. She is swept up in The Culling Game in the ongoing story arc. In the midst of this, she takes on one of the leaders of the game, Kenjaku.
Yuki believes that she can take one of the main villains of this arc and defeat him with her immense powers. The fight is one of the most visually stunning in the series as she reveals her true strength and what her cursed energy is actually capable of.
However, spoiler alert, it doesn’t end well as she uses her final black hole-style blast to explode and suck in Kenjaku to finish him off for good and take both of them out at the same time. However, this doesn’t work out the way she expected, as Kenjaku easily evades the attack and she sacrifices herself for nothing.
As of only a few chapters later, in the most recent part of the manga, it appears that she truly is dead, and it did almost nothing to help anyone out.

A couple of special abilities make up the unbelievable power that Yuki Tsukumo has. As one of the top four sorcerers in the entire world, this effectively means that there are few that are able to keep up with her. This comes down to two reasons: her overall physical strength and how she can use her cursed energy in her fights.
Unmatched Physical Strength
When Yuki first appears in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, she hides her true power. Even in the middle of the Shibuya Incident against some of the vilest cursed spirits and villains the series had seen yet, she only chose to show a fraction of her true strength.
She mainly focused on her melee strength, which is some of the strongest in the entire series. She is able to withstand blows and send them back to enemies. In a way, she seems like a physically-focused fighter, which is why it makes sense that she is the teacher for Aoi Todo in a way.
Her powerful kicks and punches allow her to blast through the defense of even her most vigorous supernatural opponents and weaken them. She is undoubtedly a brute force fighter focused on an overwhelming offensive technique that can take anyone down.
Cursed Energy Barriers and Destruction
However, while Yuki is a powerful melee fighter, this isn’t her actual cursed energy powers. There is so much more to her abilities that have been revealed most recently in the manga, so be prepared for some spoilers ahead.
What we already know about her cursed energy is that she is able to channel it into creating some barriers around herself and possibly others. This lets her protect herself when she is charging forward to demolish her opponents with her fists or feet.

Yuki is able to channel black hole-style energy and use it to obliterate anything that is nearby. It works exactly as you would expect, sucking in the energy and anything that is in the surrounding area and then exploding in the process to destroy whatever is inside of the black hole.
This power is something that she has only ever had to use against an opponent like Kenjaku, but it shows the unbelievable destruction that she is able to cause when push comes to shove. This is also likely the reason behind her status as one of Japan’s four Special Grade sorcerers.
Anime Voice Actor
Yuki Tsukumo has, technically, appeared in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime at the time of writing this. But she didn’t say much or do much in the plot. That said, her voice actor is already set in stone for the anime adaptation; who will you get to hear in the near future.
Oddly enough, the casting for the Japanese voice actor for Yuki Tsukumo is the only one that is confirmed at this time. Though there is a finished Jujutsu Kaisen English dub for the first season, it is currently unknown who will be the official voice for her in this surprisingly good version of the adaptation.
That said, we do know that the Japanese voice of Yuki Tsukumo will be Noriko Hidaka in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen. When it premieres, fans will be able to hear Hidaka as the voice of Yuki, most likely during the final moments of the Shibuya Incident when she shows up.

Though they have gone their separate ways in life, she still seems to care deeply about Gojo, which is why she shows up to save his students.
Yuki also had a close childhood friendship with Geto, rounding out the trio of kids. They were like family to each other, which is why it makes it even tougher than Geto has gone down the path he has. Yuki seems to care about trying to stop him, whatever the cost, as his friend.
